The very nature of orchards means that courses are seasonal. During the summer months, few courses are available.

This course is designed for those who are at the preliminary stage of restoring an old orchard or planting a new one, and we run it in spring so that you can prepare for planting next winter. People who need this course may not yet have joined OL, so please pass on this information!

Top working is where one grafts new varieties onto an established tree. It enables one to produce a multi-variety tree, or to change the variety if the host tree's apples are not wanted or liked.

New Course

We will be running a plum (and related fruits) pruning course on June 6th near Meshaw. We expect there are many of you who have not dared tackle your crowded and tangled plum trees, for fear of doing the wrong thing! Here is your chance to get it right.
